45 people killed in landslides in Kerala

The death toll is likely to increase..

Amaravati: In Kerala’s Wayanad district, where Rahul Gandhi resigned as MP, a huge landslide occurred in various areas near Meppadi in the early hours of Tuesday morning. 45 people have died in this disaster.. Officials believe that hundreds of people are trapped under the mud mounds.. 20 injured people were shifted to nearby hospitals. Kerala State Disaster Management Team, Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Force have reached the site and are trying to remove the mudslides. Officials said that additional teams are also reaching Wayanad. As the heavy rains are falling, the relief efforts are going on at a slow pace. Many houses were destroyed due to landslides. Locals said that they have never seen such a disaster in Meppadi Mundakai area. Locals said that landslides occurred twice in Mundakai at 1 am and 4 pm. It is said that more than 400 families have been affected. Many people are missing and their relatives are expressing concern.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and inquired about the incident. Prime Minister Modi suggested to provide better treatment to the injured.
