Two alternative ways of laying railway track to Sabarimala-Ashwini Vaishnav

Amaravati: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has revealed that there is no cooperation from the state government regarding the Sabarimala railway project in Kerala, but two alternative routes are being considered for laying a railway track to Sabarimala. Referring to some aspects of the Sabarimala railway project during the question and answer session in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Union Minister said that no progress has been made in the project since many years. He said that there has been a demand for laying this railway line for devotees going to Sabarimala temple for many years. The minister said that the state government is refusing help in land acquisition and fund allocation. He said that we are studying two routes to Sabarimala, and one route to Pamba is being considered. Also, the minister disclosed that they are studying the route of the train up to a distance of 25 kilometers to the temple. Vaishnav said that the final decision will be taken after a thorough study of both the routes.
He said that a new railway route has been planned from Chengannur to Pamba, and the DPR is being prepared. However, the Minister made it clear that the work of Sabari Railway project will start after finalizing the route to be chosen.
