Amaravati: Kalindi Express (14117) narrowly averted a major accident at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. A train hit a gas cylinder on the tracks on the Anwarganj-Kasganj railway line in Kanpur. There was no damage to the train in this accident. Kalindi Express is going from Prayagraj in UP to Bhiwani in Haryana via Kanpur Central. In this context, at 8.15 pm on Sunday night, the loco pilot noticed something suspicious on the train tracks and immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brakes. The train engine hit the gas cylinder which was already on the tracks and the cylinder flew about 50 meters away from the tracks. There was no accident to the train in this incident..Immediately the loco pilot informed guard Rajeev and gateman Pappu Pal about the accident.. On receiving the information, railway gateman Pappu informed the RPF police. Immediately the RPF team reached the spot and started investigation. After investigation, RPF Inspector OP Meena’s team seized the cylinder. A petrol bottle and a lighter were also found at the scene. The police have preliminarily confirmed that these were placed on the track by unknown motivated persons to derail the train. The police said that efforts are being made to identify the accused and those responsible will be severely punished. The officials stopped the train for 20 minutes and allowed it to proceed after a thorough examination of the route.
