Civil drill should be conducted across the country on Wednesday – Union Home Ministry

Amaravati: In view of the high tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahelgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, the central government has put several states on alert. All states have been ordered to conduct a civil drill across the country on Wednesday.
The Union Home Ministry has directed state governments to conduct mock drills on the security and preparedness of citizens during wartime. A key review meeting on war preparedness was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan. Officials are reviewing the arrangements for Mock Drills in about 244 districts of the country. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including the DG of Civil Defence and DG of NDRF.

Mock drills areas in categories A, B, C:- At a time when India has the potential to carry out retaliatory attacks on Pakistan, the Union Home Ministry has issued key instructions to the states. Pakistan is also preparing states in advance in case it retaliates. The areas where the mock drills will be conducted on Wednesday have been divided into 3 categories.

Category A includes Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, Kakrapur, Tarapur, Talcher, Kota, Rawat, Chennai, Kalpakkam, and Narora districts.

Category B includes 201 districts including Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Category C There are 45 districts.

Special orders have been issued to the states bordering Pakistan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Ministry of Information, there will be mock drills on air-raid warning sirens, training citizens on how to protect themselves in adverse situations, and readiness to clear bunkers and trenches.
