Justice DY Chandrachud as the next Supreme Court Chief Justice?

Amaravati: The current CJI UU Lalit on Tuesday recommended the name of Justice DY Chandrachud as the new Chief Justice (CJI) of the Supreme Court. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit will retire from the post of Chief Justice on November 8. Before retirement, it is customary to recommend the name of a senior judge as the new CJI. Justice DY Chandrachud is likely to be appointed as the 50th Chief Justice of the country. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote to the current CJI Lalit on October 7 to recommend the name of the new CJI. With this, CJI UU Lalit recommended the name of Justice DY Chandrachud as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India.
