The Supreme Court refused to grant a stay on web counselling

Counseling will be as usual.

Amaravati: The Supreme Court on Thursday heard the petitions filed regarding the allegations of NEET question paper leakage. The court refused to stay the web counseling and made it clear that the counseling will continue as usual. The National Testing Agency has issued notices to respond to these petitions within two weeks. Later, the next hearing was postponed to July 8.

The Center has taken a key decision amid allegations of irregularities in NEET-UG 2024, the national eligibility and entrance test conducted for admissions to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses across the country. The Supreme Court has informed the Supreme Court that the grace marks given to 1,563 candidates in the NEET results will be removed and they will be given an opportunity to retake the exam. 67 students from a single examination center in Haryana secured 1st rank, which is proof of malpractice. In response, NTA DG Subodhkumar clarified that many students scored high marks due to grace marks given due to changes in NCERT textbooks and loss of time at examination centers. Last week, the Central Education Department formed a four-member committee to respond to the allegations of irregularities. The committee inquired about the students who got grace marks and submitted a report. The Center communicated the decisions of this committee to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

The committee has decided to cancel the score cards of 1563 students who got grace marks due to time lost during the examination. He said that they will be given an opportunity to participate in the re-test, the exam will be conducted on June 23 and their results will be announced by the 30th of this month. The Center has informed the Supreme Court that there will be counseling only after the exam, and if those who do not want to take the exam again, they can go for the counseling starting from July 6 with the original marks without the grace marks.
