Cricket head coach Anshuman Gaikwad has breathed his last

Amaravati: Former player of Team India, cricket coach Anshuman Gaikwad (71) passed away on Wednesday.. He has been suffering from blood cancer for some time and was treated for cancer at King’s College Hospital in London. Recently returned to India..
Gaikwad, who was a member of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 1983, participated in 40 Tests and 15 ODIs in his long career of 13 years and scored 2254 runs including two centuries. He became the top scorer with 201 runs in the match against Pakistan in Jalandhar in 1983. He played 205 first class matches in his career. Served as a coach for Team India twice, from 1997 to 1999 and in 2000. Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev requested BCCI to help Gaekwad’s cancer treatment due to financial problems. BCCI Board Secretary Jai Shah immediately responded and ordered the officials to provide financial assistance of Rs.1 crror. Meanwhile, Gaikwad’s condition worsened and he passed away.
