FASTTAG services to be integrated with ANPR at selected toll plazas from May 1
Amaravati: The Center has clarified on the implementation of the satellite-based toll system. It has clarified that no decision has been taken yet on its implementation across the country from May 1.
Some media outlets have reported that the satellite toll system will be implemented from May 1st, replacing the current FASTag-based toll system. The Union Ministry of Transport and Highways issued a statement in this regard on Friday. The automatic number plate recognition system will be implemented at selected toll plazas first, eliminating the need for vehicles to stop at toll plazas to collect fees. This will provide services in combination with ANPR and FASTTAG. This means that if ANPR cameras recognize vehicle number plates, the vehicles will be charged through FASTag radio frequency identification without stopping. E-notices will be issued if anyone violates the rules. FASTag cancellation and penalties will be imposed. The department said it has not yet decided when it will be implemented.
