Execution of death sentence of 8 ex-Indian Navy personnel have stopped

Qatar court approved to appeal..
Amaravati: A Qatari court has accepted the plea of the Indian government to review the death sentence in the case of 8 former Indian naval personnel who were arrested and sentenced to death for espionage in Qatar. Sources said that the Qatari court will decide the date of hearing only after examining the appeal. On October 26, a Qatari court sentenced 8 ex-Indian naval personnel to death in a case of espionage.
In August 2022, Qatar’s intelligence agency arrested 8 ex-naval personnel from India in espionage cases. But the Qatari authorities have not revealed the allegations against them till now. After rejecting their bail petitions several times, the first instance court in Qatar finally gave its verdict.

With the efforts of Indian authorities, they were granted consular access. Indian authorities are working hard to release them.
