Precision-guided missile test by drone successful
Amaravati: The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test-fired the Ultra-Low-Latitude Precision Guided Missile-V3 (ULPGM) from a drone. The experiment was conducted at the National Open Area Range in Kurnool.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed happiness over the success of the test. He commented that this experiment is a great incentive for the development of indigenous defense capabilities.
Hitting targets with utmost precision: DRDO showcased the development of various weapons launched by drones at the Aero India-2025 show. Infrared seekers, dual thrust propulsion systems unveiled. ULPGM is being developed to be launched from drones as well as other platforms. DRDO is developing this lightweight missile to destroy long-range targets with extreme accuracy.
Laser-based weapons:- Laser-based weapons (DEW) were also successfully tested recently at the Kurnool test range in connection with weapons testing.
DEWs have been developed to destroy fixed-wing UAVs and swarm drones. DRDO is developing several drones that are needed for repelling enemy attacks, surveillance, and counterattacks.
It has developed Tapas and Archer drones, which can destroy long-range targets with precision, as well as Ghatak and Swift drones, which can be used to intercept enemy surveillance.DRDO has also tested drones like Pushpak and Golden Hawk for short-range surveillance. Along with DRDO, several private defense sector companies and startups are participating in these experiments.
