The assailants chained the woman in the forest

Amaravati: The most inhuman incident has come to light in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. A 50-year-old American woman was tied to a tree with iron chains. In the village of Sonurli, which is 450 km away from Mumbai city, on Saturday evening, a cowherd went to graze cattle in the forest. When he heard the woman crying, he was shocked to see the woman there. He immediately informed the police. Immediately the police reached there and found that she had a xerox copy of her US passport and an Aadhaar card with Tamilnadu address. They are trying to identify her identity based on these two identity documents. A police officer said that the woman was taken to Sawantwadi Hospital in Konkan region and was taken to a hospital in Sindhudurg for better treatment.

In view of her mental and health condition, she was shifted to Goa Medical College which has advanced medical facilities for better treatment. He said that at present there is no danger to her life, doctors are treating her and based on the medical prescriptions obtained from her, it is understood that she is suffering from mental problems. The concerned police officer told the media that Aadhaar card with Tamil Nadu address and xerox copy of US passport were found with the victim woman. According to the available verification documents, her name has been identified as ‘Lalita Kayi’ and her visa has expired. Police said they are talking to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office to confirm her nationality.
