The Union Home Ministry has issued a gazette notification regarding the census in the country.

Amaravati: The Union Home Ministry released a gazette notification regarding the census in the country on Monday. The census process will be conducted in the country in two phases. It is scheduled to be completed by March 1, 2027. This time, the Center will conduct a caste census along with the population census. The next census after 2011 is scheduled for 2021. Census postponed due to Corona.. The Center has decided to complete the 16th Census process, which will be undertaken after 15 years, by March 1, 2027. In this sequence, in the first phase, the census will be completed in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand by October 1, 2026. The Central Home Ministry has said that this process will be completed in the remaining areas by March 2027. A total of 34 lakh enumerators, supervisors and another 1.34 lakh staff will undertake the census process. This time the census will be conducted in digital format.
The government has also provided the facility for people to register their details on their own on websites and apps. The Union Home Ministry has said that the collection, transfer and storage of information is being carried out with utmost strictness.
