Tirumala: Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam was solemnized on Tuesday at Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple on March 22 in honor of Ugadi Asthana. TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy participated in this program. Speaking to the media outside the temple on this occasion, EO said that it is customary to hold Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam on Tuesday before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadashi festivals four times a year. On this occasion, starting from Anandanilayam to Bangaruwakili, the sub-temples inside the Srivari temple, the temple premises, potu, walls, roof, puja materials etc. will be washed clean with water. It is explained that during this time, Swami’s Moolavirattu is completely covered with a cloth and after purification, holy perfumed water mixed with Namakopu, Srichurnam, Kasturi Turmeric, Pachaku, Gadda Camphor, Sandalwood powder, Kumkum, Kichiligadda and other spices is spread throughout the temple. It is said that this perfume was gifted to us by our forefathers who worked hard. He said that the temple will be clean and the walls will be strong without the arrival of insects through the promotion of perfume. He said that the priests will perform special puja and offering programs by removing the cloth covering the Swami’s Moolavirattu. Sarvadarshan for devotees will start from 9 am. He said that break darshans during Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam on Tuesday and Ugadi Asthanam on Wednesday have been cancelled. TTD board members Mooramshetty Ramulu, Maruthi Prasad, Madhusudan Yadav, VJV Balireddy, Peshkar Srihari and others participated in this program.
Ugadi Asthanam on 22nd March:- At 6 am in the Srivari temple, Sridevi Bhudevi along with Sri Malayappaswamy and Vishvaksena are offered a special offering. Between 7 am and 9 am they enter the temple in a procession around the vimana prakaram and the flagpole. After that Srivari Moolavirattu and Utsavamurthy are dressed in new clothes. After that panchaga shravana is performed. Ugadi Asthana is conducted scientifically by Agama Pandits and priests at Bangaru Vakili.
