India and Pakistan have given the list of citizens and fishermen in jails

Amaravathi: Amaravati: India and Pakistan on Sunday exchanged the list of citizens and fishermen in jails in their respective countries. According to the terms of the 2008 agreement on consular axis, officials at the diplomatic offices in New Delhi and Islamabad exchanged the list with each other, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. This list is changed on 1st January and 1st July every year. According to the list, 339 civilians and 95 fishermen of Pakistan are currently in Indian custody. In Pakistan’s list, 51 ordinary citizens of India and 654 fishermen are in their custody. The Government of India has requested that the civilian prisoners, missing Indian defense personnel and fishermen along with their boats be handed over from Pakistan custody as soon as possible. The MEA said that it has asked Pakistan to speedily release 631 fishermen and two civilian prisoners who have completed their jail terms and recognized their nationality. It also requested the release of 32 fishermen and 22 common prisoners suspected to be Indians in Pakistani custody, and all Indian civilian prisoners and fishermen suspected of being Indian should be given adequate security and repatriated to India.
