The low pressure has strengthened and turned into a cyclone-likely to cross the coast at Odisha
Amaravati: APSDMA MD Ronanki Kurmanath said that the low pressure over Odisha and Uttarandhra coastal areas along the north-west has become a cyclone. It is likely to cross the coast of Odisha near Puri on Saturday early morning. Later it will gradually weaken. He said that already 2 SDRF teams have been sent to Eluru district, 1 SDRF team to Konaseema and 2 SDRF teams to East Godavari. He said that in the background of heavy rains in the state, one should not try to cross the rivers and canals in the low-lying areas. He said moderate rains with thundershowers are likely to occur in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Eluru, Prakasam and Nandyala districts tomorrow due to the influence of wind. Also, there is a possibility of light rain with scattered thundershowers in Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Nellore, Kurnool, Anantapur, Sri Sathyasai, YSR, Annamaiya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts.
