300 kg gold seized in Proddutur

Amaravati: The Income Tax officials who have been inspecting gold shops in Proddutur of Kadapa district for the last four days have seized many gold biscuits, jewelry, records. They took the seized materials and gold to Tirupati in their vehicles. As the authorities received reliable information about illegal importation of gold into Proddutur, since four days, the officials have been checking around 4 shops of Bushetti Jewelers & Diamonds, Thallam, Gururaghavendra Jewelers, day and night. It is learned that the officials of the IT department have seized about 300 kg of gold and a large amount of cash illegally stockpiled. The IT department officials told the media that they are not authorized to disclose the details of these searches and that they will disclose the details only after examining all the records in the presence of high level officials.
