A bill on data privacy will be prepared soon: Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Amaravathi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed that a bill on data privacy will be prepared soon. IT Minister Ashwani Vaishnav has focused on this bill and said that a bill related to data privacy will be introduced in the Parliament soon. On the occasion of participating in the meeting organized by the US-India Business Council in Delhi on Wednesday, Sitharaman said that all the doubts on the privacy bill will be cleared soon; he said that he is bringing this bill after consultation with all the relevant experts. The Central Government withdrew the Personal Data Protection Bill-2019 from the Lok Sabha sessions held last month. He said that they took that decision after the Joint Committee of the Parliament on Personal Data Protection Bill suggested 81 amendments and 12 recommendations to 99 sections. Moreover, 12 key recommendations have been made. He said that a new bill should be brought on data privacy. He said at that time that this bill is likely to be approved by the next budget meetings.
