Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which stands as the flagship of the country, in Dausa, Rajasthan on Sunday. Currently, the first phase of 246 km road from Delhi to Jaipur has started. With this expressway available to motorists, the travel time between Delhi-Jaipur will be reduced from 5 hours to 2.5 hours. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari revealed that the first phase of construction from Delhi-Dausa (near Jaipur) has been completed at a cost of Rs 12,150 crore.
Expressway Features:- Mumbai-Delhi Expressway has a total length of 1,386 km..From Delhi’s DND flyover to Mumbai’s JNPT.. The largest expressway in the country is being built with 8 lines.. It is estimated that the construction of this expressway will cost around 1, 00,000 crore rupees.. If the expressway is completed, the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai will be reduced by half.. The current journey of 24 hours will be reduced to 12 hours.. The construction of this road is progressing rapidly across the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra (6 states)..The expressway connects 93 PM dynamic economic nodes, 13 ports, 8 major airports, 8 multi-modal logistics parks..Asia’s first expressway built overpass, underpass for wildlife conservation.. 4,000 trained engineers working 24X7.. The expressway will save 300 million liters of fuel annually, while reducing 800 million kilograms of carbon emissions.. The expressway will remain an engineering marvel.. Special lines for electric vehicles, charging stations are being established here and there along the expressway.. A speed limit of 120 kmph is allowed.. This is currently the fastest vehicular road in the country.. Helipads, trauma care centers are being set up on the expressway.
