A concerted effort should be made to conserve marine life-Collector

Nellore: District Collector Chakradhar Babu has called upon the people to work together to protect the marine life and thus save the biodiversity. On the occasion of the International Coastal Cleanliness Day at the Krishnapatnam coast of Muthukuru Mandal on Saturday, Swachh Sagar – Safe Sagar program was organized as per the call of the Central Government. Under the leadership of District Collector Chakradhar Babu and Commandant of Indian Coast Guard Station Abhik Chakrabarti, Indian Coast Guard personnel, students of various schools and colleges, and around 500 environmentalists gathered garbage on the Krishnapatnam seashore. Speaking to the media on this occasion, the District Collector said that the Clean Sea-Safe Sea program will be carried out for 75 days in 75 beaches along the 7500 km Indian coast. It is a program aimed at reducing the use of plastic, removing the waste dumped in the sea, cleaning the sea waters and creating a sustainable way of life for the future. All people should have awareness and social consciousness towards the environment. Operational Ocean Service Scientist Nagaraju Kumar, Fisheries Department Joint Director M. Nageswara Rao, Environment Coordinator Chandrasekhar, Fishery Welfare Samiti State President Polaiah, Tahsildar Manohar Babu, MPDO Pratyusha and others participated in this work.
