A Russian woman lives in a cave with her two children in a dense forest.

Amaravati: A 40-year-old Russian woman and her two children were rescued by police from a remote cave in the Ramatirtha hills, a dense forest in Kumta taluka of Uttara Kannada district. They have reportedly been living alone here for almost two weeks. As there was a possibility of landslides in the forest area due to rains, on July 9, Gokarna Police Station SI Sridhar and his staff patrolled the Ramatirtha hill area for the safety of tourists. At the same time, the police noticed clothes hanging to dry in the cave area and inspected the surroundings. They noticed a Russian woman and her daughters living in the cave there.

Spiritual life:- Police identified the Russian woman as 40-year-old Nina Kutina and her two daughters as Prema (6) and Ama (4). When questioned, she said that she had come here from Goa and was living a spiritual life in a cave. It was said that the passport and visa documents were lost somewhere in the cave. They were evacuated from the area, which was at risk of landslides, along with poisonous snakes and wild animals. At the request of the Russian woman, they were taken to the ashram of a female monk, Yogaratna Saraswati, in Bankikodla village. Gokarna police and forest department officials searched the cave and found the passport and visa documents belonging to the Russian woman. It was revealed that Nina had come to India on a business visa valid until April 17, 2017. On April 19, 2018, the Foreign Office in Goa told her to leave India. Police found through her records that the Russian woman, who had gone to Nepal from there, had returned to India on September 8. Police have shifted a Russian woman and her two daughters to a women’s reception centre in Karwar for violating visa rules.
An Narth Kannada police officer revealed that they have contacted the Foreigners Regional Registration Office in Bengaluru to send them back to Russia.
