Change the names of lions Sita and Akbar immediately-Bengal High Court

Amaravati: The Kolkata High Court has issued clear orders to the West Bengal government to immediately change the names of the lions in the Bengal Safari Park to Sita and Akbar. Justice Saugata Bhattacharya’s single bench bench opined that Sita is the Hindu goddess and Akbar is a Mughal king. Justice Bhattacharya asked the counsel for the government whether you name the animals you rear after a Hindu deity and a Muslim emperor. The lawyer said that no one should do that even if there is a possibility to name it. Shall we name an animal after Rabindranath Tagore? Justice Bhattacharya asked to think once. Vishwa Hindu Parishad has condemned the Bengal government’s decision to name the lions Sita and Akbar together. A petition was filed in the Kolkata High Court, seeking to change the names of the lions.
