Tax on temples..Karnataka assembly approves new bill
Amaravati: The Congress government ruling in Karnataka has introduced and passed a new endowment bill in the assembly to enable taxation on Hindu temples. According to this bill, the government will levy a tax of 10 percent on temples with income exceeding Rs. BJP is worried about the way the Karnataka government is doing.. Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yeddyurappa has expressed his anger that the Karnataka government is implementing anti-Hindu policies. He criticized that the government is trying to fill its empty treasury through this bill. He questioned why the government is levying tax only on the revenue of Hindu temples, but not levying tax on prayer halls belonging to other religions.
