CPI(M) National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passes away
Amaravati: CPI(M) national general secretary, former Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury (72) passed away at 3.03 pm. He breathed his last after being treated at AIIMS since 19th of last month. He has been on ventilator since the 9th of this month as his health deteriorated for the last two days. It is known that Sitaram Yechury’s body got more infection and medicine did not reduce the infection, so the doctors brought medicine from abroad. Although a team of specialist doctors from various departments provided treatment, they could not save him. Yechury joined the CPM nearly 50 years ago as a student leader. From 2005 to 2015, he served as the general secretary of the party for three consecutive terms. Elected to the post again in 2018. Sitaram Echury was born on August 12, 1952 in a Telugu family in Chennai. Yechury started his education in Hyderabad and completed it in Delhi. Studied MA in Economics from JNU University.
