Former Director General of Archeology Department of India Bibi Lal passed away

Amaravathi: Former Director General of Archeology Department of India (ASI) Breez Basi Lal (101) has passed away.. Union Minister of Culture Kishan Reddy has informed about this through Twitter..Kishan Reddy mentioned in his tweet that Bibi Lal has rendered special services to archaeological researches in India and also trained young archaeologists for the last four decades. Expressing grief over the death of Bibi Lal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that Bibi Lal was a wonderful personality and his contribution to archeology was unparalleled. Bibi Lal has been honored with the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India in 2021. Under the leadership of Bibi Lal, the Indian Archeology department Survey of Buddhas of Bamiyan, Khwaz Parsa Mosque in Balkh, R. of Afghanistan. With Sen Gupta, they studied their conservation and restoration. Bibi Lal wrote in his researches that there was a Ram Mandir at the same place where the Babri Masjid is located. Based on the said research writings, the Supreme Court gave a favorable judgment for the construction of the Ram Mandir Temple.. Born in 1921 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Lal served as the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India between 1968 and 1972.
