Earthquake in Nepal 128 dead,more than 140 injured,property damage?

Amaravati: A huge earthquake occurred in Nepal at 11.40 pm on Friday. About 128 people have died due to the massive earthquake that has occurred in Jajar Kot district of Nepal. More than 140 people were injured in the earthquake. Their number is likely to increase.
Officials said that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4 on the Richter scale. The Geological Survey has revealed that the epicenter of the earthquake is 18 km below the ground in Lamidanda area of Jajarkot district. Earthquakes occurred in India’s capital New Delhi, Bihar, UP, which is 676 km away from the epicenter.

Why frequent earthquakes in Nepal? :- There is a major geological fault under the land of Nepal. The Indian tectonic plate pushes into the Eurasian plate forming the Himalayas. Earthquakes are common due to this.

In the year 2015, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal killed more than 12000 people and damaged 10 lakh houses and buildings. On October 3, 2023, 334 houses were destroyed and 1,115 people were injured due to the 6.2 magnitude earthquake. These tremors were felt in many parts of North India including the Delhi-NCR region.
In November 2022, six people were killed in an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 in Doti district of Nepal.

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal condoled the victims of the earthquake. Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal’s office said that three security agencies have been set up in the country to immediately rescue the injured and carry out relief operations.
The government has deployed security forces for relief operations in earthquake affected areas. Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesman for Nepal’s Home Ministry, said that the earthquake caused heavy property damage.
