MPhil programs offered by universities do not have any recognition – UGC Secretary Manish Joshi
Amaravati: UGC Secretary Manish Joshi said that there is no recognition of MPhil programs offered by universities in the country. “Regulation No. 14 (Minimum Standards, Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) provisions of UGC clearly states that higher education institutions should not offer any MPhil program in 2022.” In this context, the secretary reminded that no one should take MPhil admissions, MPhil courses have been canceled by UGC. However, some universities offer MPhil courses. In this context, orders have been issued to stop MPhil courses in the academic year 2023-24. However, it is known that some universities are accepting applications for admission to MPhil courses. As the matter came to the attention of UGC, they had to warn again.
