String operation on gender testing centers-collector

Tirupati: District Collector K Venkataramana Reddy said that strict action should be taken against the perpetrators of fetal sex determination as a crime. District level advisory committee meeting on the implementation of the Fetus Gender Determination Act was held in the local collectorate hall on Saturday. On this occasion, the district collector said that there should be no gender discrimination as men and women are equal in the society. Feticide can be eradicated by strict implementation of Fetal Gender Determination Act. At present, the sex ratio of 0-6 year old children in the state was 961 in 2001 and according to the 2011 census, the ratio was only 1000::943. He said that the cancellation of the registration of the scanning centers that carry out gender determination tests, criminal cases will be registered and the first time will be a fine of Rs. 10 thousand rupees and 3 years of rigorous punishment. He said that there are 185 scanning centers in the district. He said that in some mandals in the district, the gender ratio is very low and attention should be paid to such mandals. He said that unless the string operation is strictly implemented on the suspicious scanning centers, they will not engage in the activities of determining the sex of the pregnant fetus.
