Surat Sessions Court rejected the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi

Amaravati: Surat Sessions Court rejected the petition filed by Congress leader and prince Rahul Gandhi.
The Surat Sessions Court rejected Rahul Gandhi’s plea that it was not appropriate to sentence him to two years imprisonment in the defamation case. It is known that the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years imprisonment in the case of making controversial comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surname. Due to this, his membership of Parliament was also cancelled. Rahul strongly objected that the trial court acted harshly without conducting a transparent investigation on this case. Rahul approached the Sessions Court saying that the case was not serious enough to be sentenced to two years in prison for these comments, and that the punishment should be stayed, otherwise his honor and prestige would be damaged. Judge R.P. Mogera, who heard arguments on Rahul’s petition last Thursday, pronounced the verdict today (Thursday-20-4-23).
