Sanitation management works were inspected at the field level-Commissioner Vikas Marmat
Nellore: Commissioner Vikas Marmat directed the officials and secretariat secretaries to work towards the realization of a clean Nellore with special focus on sanitation management throughout the city. The commissioner examined the attendance records of the sanitation staff in the secretariats of local 42 and 48 divisions. The commissioner directed the officials to seek explanation from the staff on leave regarding the reason for non-attendance. As part of the supervision of sanitation management works, the records related to garbage collection and evacuation vehicles were examined at the local Bodigadi Thota dumping yard. The Commissioner along with the officials supervised the door to door wet and dry garbage collection by vehicles in the surrounding areas on Thursday. It was ordered to take up siltation works in the drains of various streets in the locality and to take measures to prevent the accumulation of sewage water for the elimination of mosquitoes. As part of mosquito prevention measures, the commissioner suggested that oil balls should be sprayed in all dry drains and fogging should be done regularly. The commissioner requested that the wet and dry waste should be kept separately in the garbage baskets provided by the city government and the people should cooperate responsibly in the recycling policy.
Later, the commissioner visited the vehicle shed near the old municipal office. The commissioner ordered the staff to speed up siltation and silt removal in all areas under the jurisdiction of the city corporation. Sanitation department officials, secretariat secretaries and staff participated in this program.
