The Union Sports Ministry has suspended the body Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)

Amaravati: The Union Sports Ministry has taken a sensational decision suspending the newly formed body Wrestling Federation of India headed by Sanjay Singh. The election of Sanjay Singh, a close associate of BJP MP and former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Charan Singh, as the new president of WFI led to protests. At the same time, when he was elected as the President, he announced that the Nationals would be held at Nandini Nagar in Gonda (UP) later this year. The sports ministry said in a statement on Sunday that this announcement was taken as a hasty action and without giving adequate notice to the wrestlers. The Sports Ministry said that the WFI panel is completely under the control of former office bearers, which appears to be a complete encroachment of the Sports Code. It has been revealed that the federation has to assume that the activities of the federation are continuing under the former office bearers, and the matter of the allegations made that the players faced sexual abuse in the past is currently before the court. Sanjay Singh was earlier the Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Body. Sanjay Singh won a sensational victory as the new president of WFI last Thursday by winning 40 votes out of 47 votes.
