Trial should not be delayed because Jagan is CM-Supreme Court
Amaravati: A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday on MP Raghurama Krishna Raju’s petition to cancel Jagan’s bail in the illegal assets case. court asked why the trial is being delayed in this order. A bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta adjourned the further hearing to August 5, directing the affidavit to be filed within 4 weeks. Additional Solicitor General for CBI SV Raju told the court that the discharge petitions are causing delay. The bench commented that the trial should not be delayed for political reasons. The CBI told the bench that the trial is going on properly. Justice Sanjeev Khanna asked why the affidavit was not filed, not saying that it is being done properly.
The main allegation is that the trial is being delayed because of the Chief Minister. What will be the answer? The bench asked why the CM is asking for exemption from personal attendance. The Supreme Court has expressed the opinion that if the trial is going on for a long time, exemption from personal attendance should not be given. The Supreme Court has made it clear that the courts conducting the investigation in such matters should take the decision and the trial should be conducted expeditiously. The Supreme Court said that it will take up the investigation of the petitions for cancellation of bail and transfer of the trial from Hyderabad to another state.
