Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao who took charge as DGP
Amaravati: As the new DGP of the state, Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao took charge as DGP at 7:50 am on Friday. He took over from Harishkumar Gupta at the state police headquarters in Mangalagiri, Guntur district. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, a 1989 batch IPS officer, currently stands first in the seniority list of state cadre IPS officers.
First posted as Kurnool ASP.After that he held the responsibilities in Kamareddy, Dharmavaram, Nizamabad. After getting promoted as SP, he worked in Anantapur, Kadapa, Medak districts as well as Vijayawada Railway, CID and CBI departments. Worked as Police Commissioner of Vijayawada City after the bifurcation of the state. He is MD of APSPRTC from June 2021.
