Former PFI State Secretary Raoof arrested by NIA
Amaravati: Former PFI state secretary Raoof was arrested by NIA officials from his residence in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Thursday night. Rauf has been absconding ever since the Indian government banned PFI. Rauf has been shifted to the NIA office and the authorities are interrogating him. NIA raided PFI offices across the country last month and arrested 100 national and state level leaders. As Raoof took precautions during the raids, the NIA issued a lookout notice against him. At the same time, Raoof was prominent among the leaders who called for a hartal in Kerala on September 23 to protest the attacks on PFI offices and arrests of leaders across the country. On the occasion of hartal, large scale violence and destruction of property took place in Kerala. The Kerala Police registered a case against the organizers of the hartal and the police arrested 1,500 PFI members who were involved in the violence.
