Indian archers write history in Archery World Cup-2024

Amaravati: India created history in Archery World Cup-2024. India won a hat-trick of gold medals for the first time in this tournament held in Shanghai on Saturday. India achieved this rare record with the help of Jyoti Surekha, the backbone of Telugu Tejam. She played a key role in the mixed doubles event, women’s team winning gold medals. In the compound mixed team category, the pair of Surekha-Abhishek Verma registered a victory over the Estonian team with a margin of 158-157 in the final. In the women’s team category as well, the Indian girls achieved a great success. Italy’s Marcella Tinili, Irene Franchini, Elisa Rohner, Vennam Jyoti Surekha, Aditi Swamy and Parneet Kaur won the Indian team by 236-225. The victory came as our girls hit the target without giving the opposition archers a chance at any stage. In the men’s team event, the Indian team of Abhishek Verma, Priyansh and Prathamesh won the gold by defeating the Dutch team of Mike Schlosser, Sil Pater and Steph Williams by 238-231. This is the first time in history that India has won three gold medals in three disciplines.
