Amaravati: For the first time since 1901, April temperatures have been recorded at this level. While hailstorms continued in many parts of the country in April, the Meteorological Department has informed that sunshine and hailstorms will continue in the month of May as well. In the month of April, the average minimum temperature in East and North-East India was recorded as 28.12 degrees Celsius. This is the first time since 1901 that the minimum temperature has been recorded at this level in the month of April. Above-normal maximum temperatures have become common in southern peninsular India since 1980. It has been revealed that there may be hot winds for 8-11 days in May in South Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Gujarat. The main reason for the sunshine in April is the absence of thunderstorms. He said that normal rainfall is likely to be recorded across the country in the month of May. Some parts of north-west, central India, most parts of north-east India are likely to receive more than normal rainfall, he said.
