Notification for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19
Amaravati: The Central Election Commission on Wednesday issued a notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19. The process of nominations will start from today with the notification. Apart from Bihar, the remaining 20 states and union territories where the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held have been given an opportunity to file nominations till the 27th of this month. In Bihar, they have given an opportunity to file nominations till March 28. Except Bihar, the remaining 20 states and Union Territories will hold nominations on March 28.
In the first phase, polling will be held for a total of 102 Lok Sabha seats in 17 states and four Union Territories. In this total 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 12 seats in Rajasthan, 8 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 6 seats in Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, 5 seats in Maharashtra, 4 seats in Bihar, 3 seats in West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, 2 seats in Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, Puducherry.
