Southwest Monsoon likely to hit Kerala coast in next 24 hours-IMD
Amaravathi: Finally, the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala next 24 hours.. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday informed that the conditions are becoming favorable for the onset of monsoon over Kerala. As per the IMD’s latest forecast, the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala in the next 24 hours. The weather bureau informed that several conditions like increase in cloud cover over several areas covering south east Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep and Kerala coast and westerly winds are likely to play a crucial role in the advancement of the southwest monsoon.
There is persistence of westerly winds over south Arabian Sea, Increase in the depth of westerly winds up to middle tropospheric levels and increase in cloudiness over the areas covering southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep and Kerala coasts. Under such scenario, the conditions are becoming favorable for Monsoon onset over Kerala during next 48 hours, said IMD.
The conditions are also favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep, Maldives and Comorin area, some more parts Southwest, Central & Northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern states during next 48 hours.
