Tamil Nadu State DIG Vijayakumar commits suicide with service revolver

Amaravati: Tamil Nadu DIG, IPS officer Vijayakumar committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. Coimbatore Range DIG Vijayakumar committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his official residence in Red Hills, Race Course on Friday. Vijayakumar, a 2009 batch IPS officer, has served as SP, DIG Kancheepuram Cuddalore, Nagapatnam, Tiruvarur. In January this year, Vijayakumar took charge of the current post as Coimbatore DIG. The body has been sent for postmortem and the case is being investigated. In 2015, Tiruchengode Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vishnupriya hanged herself at her house in Namakkal district. The reasons for DIG Vijayakumar’s suicide are not known.
