The Lok Sabha passed the new criminal laws bill in a voice vote
Amaravati: The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the bill regarding the new criminal laws brought by the Center to replace the laws implemented in India during the British era. There are Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act. In place of these, the new “Indian Law Code, Indian Civil Protection Code, Indian Evidence” Bills were passed by the Center along with some new amendments introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The bills were debated in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. During the debate on the bills, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the new Indian Penal Code, which is being brought in place of the Indian Penal Code, focuses on justice rather than punishment. The proposed three criminal laws will liberate the people from the colonial mentality and its symbols.
