Two trains collided in Vizianagaram district-six dead and many injured
Amaravati: Palasa passenger train collided with Rayagada passenger train from behind at Kantakapalli railway junction of Kothavalasa mandal of Vizianagaram district. At 7.10 pm, the Palasa passenger hit the passenger who had stopped for the signal, and 3 bogies of the derailed Visakha-Rayagada passenger were destroyed. Initial information that 6 people died in this accident.. The injured are being taken to a local hospital for treatment. The railway staff informed that rescue operations are continuing at the incident site and the death toll is likely to increase. Due to the accident, the electricity wires were cut, delaying the rescue operations.
Waltheru DRM Saurabh Prasad informed the media about the accident and said that due to the darkness, the rescue operations are being interrupted, and they are collecting details about the accident.
Railway authorities have set up help lines for accidents. DRM revealed that the injured are being shifted to Visakha and Vizianagaram hospitals. Officials have set up helpline numbers regarding this accident.
