Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was released from jail

Amaravati: Former cricketer, Punjab Congress Party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu (59), was released two months early on Saturday due to good behavior in jail. Sidhu’s lawyer HPS said that according to the Punjab jail rules, a convict with good behavior is eligible for pardon. Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur is suffering from cancer (stage 2).

On December 27, 1988, 65-year-old Gurnam Singh Sidhu and his friend Rupinder Singh had an altercation over parking in Patia. Gurnam Singh died in this incident.. The Supreme Court convicted Sidhu in this case. Since May 2022, he has been serving his sentence in Patiala Central Jail.
