It will be difficult to reduce petrol and diesel prices – Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri
Amaravati: In the background of the Lok Sabha elections in the new year, there have been reports on social media that the central government may reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs.6 to Rs.10 across the country. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that there has been an increase in this matter. In South Asian countries, the prices of petrol and diesel are 40 to 80 percent. He said that fuel prices were reduced twice in November 2021 and May 2022 in our country due to various reasons. He said that India is at the third position in the consumption of fuel, oil and LPG in the world at present. India has become the world’s fourth largest importer, refiner and automobile market of LNG. India’s fuel requirements are very high. He said it would be difficult to reduce fuel prices due to huge volatility in oil prices across the world.
